Very uniquely, Montaña del Sol was developed long ago in what is now the protected areas of the mountains South of San José. Thereby, having a home there will be securing a slice of protected nature earmarked for conservation going forward while many parts of the valley continue to be vastly urbanized. The construction rules within the project allow for single family homes of a good size.

The internal roads were developed by an engineer to minimize impact on the mountain and follow the contours of the hills in the best possible way, maximize the views from the residential lots, and allow privacy between neighbours. They are lined with a trees and bushes.
